Perched high on a ridge just west of Vacy, and with spectacular views over the Hunter Valley, the mountains and plains surrounding Maitland and east to Stockton Harbour, The Retreat offers privacy, seclusion, comfort and luxury.
The Retreat is just over a two-hour drive from Sydney’s northshore and is set amid 400 hectares of unspoilt native bushland abundant with native bird life, kangaroos and wallabies within a bush resort, Eaglereach Highland Park.
The lodge is fully self-contained and designed for self-catering. It is of a spacious open-plan design which makes superb use of natural light and ventilation, as well as providing sweeping views through the floor to ceiling windows which have been used generously and thoughtfully throughout.
While architect designed as a luxurious getaway for couples, there are two additional bedrooms and three bathrooms (two ensuite). The main bedroom is perfectly designed to make the most of the incredible landscape views. Gazing out of the floor to ceiling windows from the lazy comforts of the queen size bed on a sleepy morning is a truly uplifting experience. The queen bedroom ensuite has a spa bath.
The kitchen is fully appointed with all the mod-cons which include a microwave oven, espresso machine and dishwasher. There is also a gas barbecue that provides an ideal opportunity for relaxing outdoor meals. With a wide-decked veranda on three sides you can choose a sunny or shady spot depending on the weather. The lounge is equipped with a combustion heater and there are also billiards, table tennis, and a video and CD library.
All linen and bath towels are supplied, and there’s a laundry with a washing machine and dryer if required. The lodge has been tastefully decorated and furnished throughout. Just because you’re in the bush doesn’t mean you have to rough it.
The bush habitat that surrounds The Retreat is ideal for bushwalks and picnicking. Swimming and tennis are also only a few minutes from your front door.
