Two pet friendly modern country cottages nestled into the slopes of the misty blue ridges of the South East Forests National Park. Not far from Bega along the Snowy Mountains Highway and near the little village of Bemboka, Giba Gunyah is a nature and bird-lover’s paradise, with bush trails for walks and a natural swimming hole in the river to explore. Over 150 different varieties of birds have been identified and echidnas bumble about during the day and at night wombats explore around the house, invariably leaving their spoor on the top of rocks or logs.
Cottages are fully self contained, comfortably furnished and complemented with fine linen and towels. The setting is very private and, because the property is up the end of a closed valley, there is no traffic. One falls asleep listening to the croaking of frogs and wakes to the calls of the birds.
Features include home cooked dinners on request, soft fluffy towels, luxury linen, fresh flowers, roaring wood fires, candles and chocolates, video and sound system provided – the perfect restful retreat or romantic hideaway. Hearty starter breakfast provisions are provided, including freshly baked bread, Raward’s own farm eggs, cereals, jam and juice.
Enjoy spectacular rural views, a variety of birdlife, echidnas, wombats, farm animals and large shady fenced gardens. Bush walkers will enjoy kilometres of fire trail walking through natural bush along the ridge of the forest and down through cool gulleys.
The cottages are budget priced with special rates for families. Pets and children are welcome and there is wheelchair access.
Locally, on the Sapphire coast, there is swimming, fishing, horse riding, canoeing, grape and fruit wineries, art and craft studios, “Art in the Streets” during January, the famous Bega Cheese factory, Bemboka Pie shop, Tathra Wharf, Pickle Factory, Candelo Markets and of course whales in season. Our beaches are pristine and uncrowded and there are many leash free areas for pets.
