The experience is one of sublime landscape and isolation, exploring a mysterious waterway that remains untouched in the heart of Tasmania's World Heritage Wilderness.
Your anticipation grows as your luggage, pared down to essentials, is loaded along with other expedition supplies into the small aircraft by your highly skilled bush pilot. Familiar urban and rural landscapes soon give way to rugged coastal and mountain scenery and after a breathtaking 45-minute flight you touch down in the heart of a World Heritage wilderness on the Bathurst Harbor airstrip at Melaleuca. Carved out of the scrub by the late pioneering legend Deny King, the airstrip is more than six days walk from the nearest roads.
This is the beginning of a very special experience.
